Bio
When you gather a group of musicians with felony criminal records like the guys in DEATH VALLEY METH LAB, you’d better believe that they will come up with thrashy in your face anarcho-crust punk! Hailing from the sewers of Los Angeles, California, they have been banned from 16 venues throught the L.A. area. Vocalist "Shotgun Mike", is a Gulf war veteran who still wears his camo face paint on stage while weilding a pistolgrip shotgun with a microphone in the barrel. Known for his onstage (and offstage) antics, Shotgun is always a blast to watch. Lead guitar player "Captain Fade-On, is the master shredder that most musicians strive to imitate. Blurry hand work and lightning fast solos make Fade-On a true master of his instrument. "Satan", the tattooed bass player looks like he has just escaped from the Federal Prison where he spent 3 years of his life. Energetic grooves and screechingly hillarious backup vocals, Satan is one frightening dude. "Lord Scumbag" on the rhythm guitar brings crazy riffs and drunken banter to the formula. Hailing from Pacoima, Calif. he, brings the definition of "Drunk Punk" to a whole new level. Of course, last but not least, "Dave Retardo", brings the thunder on his drum kit. Precision and hard hits makes him on the top of his game in music world.
DEATH VALLEY METH LAB drags HARDCORE PUNK, kicking and screaming, into a whole new level. Incorporating all we know and love about the old-school – the guitar solos, attention to songwriting detail, heavy vocals – with political lyrics.
With song titles like “Dawn of the Dead,” “Police Sniper,” “War” and “Genocide,” BRING THE WAR HOME is an elbow smash attack all the way through. Themes of alienation, seething anger and disgust for warmongers, racists and assholes, make the lyrical content as intense as the music. The lightning fast drum assault that nails you to the wall at the beginning of “Genocide” melts away into its chorus, only to come right back at you as the song continues. Shotgun's gutteral, dirty vocals on the brooding “War” make it the album’s near-ballad haha. Evocative of Metal/Punk greats like Genocide SS, Consume and Discharge, the music rips into the listener without mercy.
The details around the album are as well thought out as its music – the innovative artwork with its classic anarchist images with a colorful, pop-art twist were created by Shotgun as the grand DVML plan was coming together. The band’s METH LAB theme also comes into play in the fan experience ----lots of drunken drug addicts in the crowd. This will be all the more important as the band make a run around the southern california to promote BRING THE WAR HOME – on the 2008 TOUR and beyond. All this said, The band’s elbow-smash delivery of their raucous rock and the strength of their will to be the last men standing in the world of heavy music make that point very well. The bands music, stage show and sheer aggressiveness can be explained to the audience with the name of their first album - “Education thru Violence…”
Now, wasnt this the gayest band bio of all time? We think so......................................
